Mid America Filmmakers presents an evening with Dave Orvis at The Annex, focused on screenwriting competitions and film festivals.

Dave will discuss film festivals in general, then walk attendees through how Film Freeway can be a powerful tool—both for filmmakers searching for the right festivals and for writers looking to submit films or scripts. He’ll also share insights from his own experience with writing competitions, including how to choose opportunities wisely and what judges and programmers tend to look for.

This practical, real-world session connects directly to current Mid America Filmmakers screenwriting initiatives and is ideal for writers and filmmakers at any stage.

BIO: Dave Orvis has written/produced/directed several short films. His primary concentration is writing feature-length scripts, all of which have either won or at least placed as “Finalist” at various film festival (and other) writing competitions. Circa 1999, he and his wife Rose attended a meeting at Ivy Tech of locals interested in filmmaking. The group grew later becoming Mid America Filmmakers. He and Rose call reside in South Bend.
